The Best Running Community
Sunday, April 09, 2017 · Mike Davis
Good Day!
As I have mentioned in the past, I was never at heart a group running type person. Running was always a very individual thing for me mentally, and I used my runs selfishly to benefit my own goals. I have come to realize that the greatest part of running is the community that I enjoy being a part of. While I still enjoy the solitude of a solo run at times, I now find that I yearn for the companionship that comes from a running partner or a group. By far my best runs here are alongside Kathy, but circumstances have limited those opportunities and while there are multiple running clubs locally, I have not found a connection that I seek.
Do not take me wrong, there are plenty of great groups here to be a part of, but I guess it is hard to find the environment that NFLR created in New Hampshire and along the seacoast. While NFLR is not a running club, our training groups are most definitely creating a community of runners. What is the difference between a running club and a No Finish Line Running training group? Besides the obvious in that a group of certified running coaches are training all levels of runners for multiple distances, our training group offers many more benefits. A structured program that considers various starting levels, skilled/trained coaches, challenging yet enjoyable training plans and healthy centered running, are just a few of the benefits of our training groups. We care about every individual and instead of organizing a run and then saying “go”, we plan the best training possible to help recreational runners not only improve, but enjoy every step.
Though NFLR is not as large in numbers as some of the clubs around the seacoast, we most definitely are creating a community that is gaining great popularity. We are expanding because runners of all levels are catching on to our philosophy of healthy and enjoyable running. Our goal is not a large number of competitive runners, but instead we provide a community of runners that can improve while enjoying the process.
While it may sound like NFLR does not benefit competitive runners, that is far from accurate. Our training programs are unique in that they allow for runners of all levels to excel as they desire, yet we will not sacrifice enjoyment and a healthy approach. Our training methods gives any level the opportunity to develop as they so desire, while maintaining our goals of “intelligent enjoyable training.”
Saturday, April 15th at 8:30, we will start our “Spring Community Training Group” from ‘Bagel Grounds’, in downtown Dover. This group is open to new runners, run walkers and Intermediate runners and will meet twice a week and train for a 5K AND a 10K. I encourage you to join our community and take your running to a special place. Go to https://nofinishlinerunning.com/springGroupSignup for more information and to sign up. I may even show up along the way!
Have a great week! God Bless!
Mike
